PBSVC Setup Program (PunkBuster Services)

Beginning with PunkBuster client version 1.500, PunkBuster Online Countermeasures have extended the PunkBuster Anti-Cheat system to operate without the requirement to run PunkBuster supported games with Administrator privileges when running under Windows 2000, XP, or Vista. In order to do this, PunkBuster Online Countermeasures have developed new Windows service components to work with the PunkBuster system. PunkBuster will automatically begin using the new service components on supported systems. To manually install/uninstall the components, users may use the PBSVC Setup Program. However, uninstalling the new service components will disable PunkBuster and may prevent playing on PunkBuster servers. Once the PnkBstrA service is running along with a new PB client version 1.500 and higher, running PB enabled games under Windows 2000, XP or Vista no longer requires Administrator privileges.

Why is all this necessary?
Starting with Windows Vista, there is a greater focus on security (which is a good thing). Unfortunately, however, with this focus comes a bit of complexity. In order for games having PunkBuster integrated to be more secure, the part of PunkBuster that needs full access to the computer for scanning purposes now must run all the time at the system level. This is necessary due to new Microsoft requirements for gaming under Windows. Are the new components optional?Starting with PB Client version 1.700, the new components are required. Uninstalling and/or disabling the new components will cause PunkBuster to stop working correctly and will cause frequent kicking from PunkBuster enabled servers.

PBSetup for Windows

Updating PunkBuster with PBSetup

PunkBuster is designed to keep itself up to date using our proprietary auto-update system. For cases where the auto-update fails, we have created a utility called PBSetup.

There are two major components to the PunkBuster system: the PunkBuster Server (runs on game servers) and the PunkBuster Client (runs on players' playing machines while they play the game). Both components are designed to automatically keep themselves up to date with the latest versions of PunkBuster. The PB Server software routinely checks with the master PB Servers and downloads new updates over the Internet when they become available and then distributes the new versions to connected PB Clients when players running an old version connect to the server.

When PB is not able to auto-update, various error messages are displayed. For PB Server Admins, messages are displayed to all players when a player joins who has a newer version of PB than what is currently running on the PB Server. Also, PB Servers running old versions will not be able to detect and deal with all of the latest versions of cheat/hack software. For players of the games, when PB can't keep itself up to date, they will be removed (kicked) from PB Servers and may see one of a variety of messages ... "Distress", "Technical Problem loading ...", or "Update Timeout".

In virtually every case where PB cannot keep itself up to date, a firewall or some type of security software is blocking communication with the master PB Servers. For users who are comfortable configuring their firewall/router or security software, port number information can be found in the FAQ section for each game we support here on our website. If this issue can be resolved, then PB will be able to auto-update and function properly the way it was designed and the use of PBSetup is not necessary.

For users who need or desire to use PBSetup to manually update PunkBuster, PBSetup download links for Windows, Linux and Mac OSX are provided below. PBSetup does not modify the Windows registry. For best results, users should create a folder on the hard drive to hold PBSetup and the various files that it will create and use during operation. PBSetup should be downloaded directly into the folder or moved into the folder after downloading to the desktop but before running PBSetup for the first time. The easiest way to create a folder is to "right click" on the desktop and choose New|Folder from the pop-up menu and then type in a folder name such as PBSetup and press the Enter key.

After a very long time and numerous technical delays, I have finally gotten this map to a release point. Amuda is inspired by Harbor, which is a Call of Duty map. Details and known bugs are inside the readme. Enjoy everyone.
Description
===========
This map is based off a map called Harbor from CoD 1. The layout is inspired by the map while the look is totally different.
Amuda takes place in a Middle Eastern town called, you guessed it, Amuda.

Install
=======
Put the map folder in the usermaps folder in your /Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare/ directory
Example: C:/Program Files/Activision/Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare/usermaps

Load up CoD4 MP, click "Mods", and choose a mod to load. CustomMaps or ModWarfare is fine. Then press ~ and
type "/map mp_amuda" without the quotes.

Uninstall
=========
Delete the mp_amuda folder.

Known Issues or Bugs
====================
1. Light leaks.
2. Helicopter flies through big building when making an exit.
3. Gametypes WAR, Headquarters, Sabotage not supported. (Planned to be included in soon)
4. Minimap is a little bit unaccurate in some areas.

Please let me know if you find any bugs so I may improve this map further.
